Experiences
Learning Typography has been a wild ride. Even before I started studying this subject, I already knew that it's going to be a huge challenge for me, mainly because I know very little about typeface design, and I was worried that wouldn't make it through. It started from me hating this subject, to me appreciating typography more than ever. I wouldn't say that I'm good at it, but I can definitely say that I've learned a lot and improved a lot compared to the first semester. I am truly grateful to the two best lecturers that have guided me through since the first semester, and without them I would definitely not be in where I am today. Even though I'd feel stressed whenever I think about typography, the stress is definitely worth it. After going through typography, I have learned to appreciate type designs in everyday life, and to start to develop an eye for good works. Overall, I've really learnt a lot in typography, and even started to notice things that I normally wouldn't.
Observation
I noticed that I've became more critical when evaluating my work compared to the past, and I've also learned to identify my problems faster and more accurately. Thanks to Mr. Vinod and Mr. Shamsul providing us with a lot of other extra knowledge, I feel more exposed to the world of design, and see things that I wouldn't normally have the opportunity to.
Findings
After being exposed to typography, I noticed that a lot of things are somehow co-related to each other in certain ways, and that typography has definitely played an important role in the design field. Typography itself sounded boring to me at first, and that I thought that typography is just about designing typeface, but there's more to it than that, and through this class, I've learned a lot of skills that would be helpful to me in the future. I can't stress how thankful I am to the lecturers that have helped me through these semesters, and that without them, I'd probably still be stuck in the stereotypical impression towards typography.
